CSA cement stands for Calcium sulfoaluminate cement. It is a special type of cement applied in different industries where early high strength and fast setting development are necessary. The CSA cement was first developed in China, with high-speed bonding, quick strength development and shrinkage reduction. The Calcium sulfoaluminate can be formed by the reaction of calcium oxide, aluminum oxide and calcium sulfate at 1000 to 1250℃, becoming the main component of fast-hardening, expansive and self-stressing cement.
The CSA cement, also named as rapid setting cement, high strength cement, and fast hardening cement, can be divided into two types: the CSA cement and CSA binder. The CSA cement can be classified according to the strength, that is, CSA 42.5, CSA 52.5, and CSA 62.5. The CSA binder we supply also includes three grades, including CSA binder 52.5, CSA binder 62.5 and CSA binder 72.5.
CSA cement requires much more water and utilizes most of the water through the process. Therefore, less water is left to cause shrinkage. Additionally, since CSA cement is of high early strength, after its initial setting, the CSA cement will have little shrinkage.
The CSA cement can also be called as rapid setting cement. That’s because the CSA cement is made with concretes, grouts and mortars, which make it fast to achieve compressive strength. Compared to Portland cement, mortars and concrete with CSA can achieve the same strength within 24 hours while the Portland cement will take 28 days.

Environmental-friendly is another key feature of the CSA cement. The CSA cement can be produced around 1250℃, which is quite lower than the production temperature of Portland cement. Also, the CSA cement is soft and requires less energy to grind.
Due to its features, CSA cement is applied into many industries, including airport construction, bridge building, etc.
Calcium sulfoaluminate cement or in combination with ZB type sulfur (iron) aluminate cement are widely applied in construction repair, prefabricated components, GRC products, low temperature construction engineering, seawater corrosion resistance, and so on. In those projects, CSA cement is often used as a quick repair material in that CSA cement has early and high strength.
In rush repair and construction projects, such as road rush repair, if use CSA cement, it requires no other special maintenance since its early strength agent. The strength can reach 80% in 8 hours and reach full strength in 12 hours.
70% of China’s CSA cement is used to make GRC products, which are made of CSA cement and alkali-resistant glass fiber. The GRC product is of light weight, high strength and durability. We now have a variety of GRC products, including GRC inner and outer wall panels, GRC building exterior decoration, etc.
In marine construction, engineers need to consider about the seawater erosion. Compared to Portland cement, CSA cement is seawater erosion resistant and frost resistant, making it an ideal raw material in marine construction engineering. The CSA cement can also save lots of raw material when producing.
